Discrimination with Muslim at Work Place, in the country

Discrimination of various forms such gender discrimination, sexual orientation, disability discrimination, ST/SC class discriminations, racial discriminations and the like exist in almost all society. However discriminations, if openly practiced by individuals/institutions are to be held as unlawful. Indian Constitution guarantees equality to every individual citizen of the country. Thus, if any individual/institution is found to be practicing any form of discrimination is guilty of unconstitutional practice. Wee have to admit that what we see now is a widely prevalent phenomenon in society which is a form of religious discrimination, and, this form of discrimination is only specifically practiced against one religion – which is Islam. Ofcourse, fundamentalism is a problem. But this is no good reason why discriminatory laws, policies and behaviors practiced towards Muslims as people should escape criticism. There are Muslims who do not agree to any kind of violence. They believe in religious pluralism. I didn’t understand those who are in power and higher level start blaming or give labels towards an entire community or religion because of some people.

During the freedom struggles for an independent India the continuous fight against the British were amongst many of Muslims, Hindus, and people of other different faiths alike. Now, there is an overwhelmingly under representative of Muslim representatives in the army, military for the reasons that they could not be trusted as patriots and nationalists. The country which was known for a very long time since independence for its pluralism is contrary to what we witness now. We see very few Muslims representations in the parliament, in the state legislations, Muslims women representations in the parliament.

The discrimination towards Muslims is not limited here; being a Muslim even at the workplace is quite difficult. It is especially difficult for Muslim women who wear the burkha. According to the statistics from National Sample Survey Muslims have lower work participation rates (48 and 9.6 percent for males and females) than Dalits (respectively 52.8 and 23 percent) and fewer salaried jobs.

The government which is supposed to be a guardian for citizen’s equality also discriminates with laws like love jihad where the government interferes in the approvals of marriage in a free and democratic country like India; the CAA is another unconstitutional law against the Muslims in India. Beef ban and the like are other few laws that are discriminatory against Muslims.

The sad fact is that it is difficult to be a Muslim in India. If one could think of being a Muslim in India he has to be a victim of incessant religious communal violence’s, riots and exclusion from work places.

We should be proud that our constitution is one of the biggest constitutions in the world. And it gives us many Rights and Freedoms. There are some countries that do not give Citizens the rights we have because of our Constitution. We should respect its Values and we should never forget our duties toward our nation. We should not discriminate.
